Saranac Lake is one of four New York towns to make the list. The towns restaurants, hospitality and all-American feel helped it earn a spot on the National Geographic list.

During WW II hundreds of Norwegian merchant sailors ended up in Saranac Lake as tuberculosis patients.
Natalie Leduc is putting together a story about the sailors for the SARANAC LAKE HISTORICAL SOCIETY and would appreciate any info you might have on the subject. Her address is natski@capital.net.

NOTE: In the Adirondack Chronology there is a mention of a moose being shot at Saranac Lake in 1965 and entered in the Trudeau Big Buck Contest.
